About

Tim Kampa - Web Developer

I have been coding HTML, CSS, PHP, and MySQL for over eight years (more like twelve for HTML/CSS), but only as an enthusiast. I have created projects for myself and for friends, but not professionally, so although I am now just beginning to freelance, I've been working with the Web for many years.

Skillset: HTML5, CSS3, LESS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, MySQL, WordPress. [on DH now]

Additionally, I have a BA in English Literature from U.C. Berkeley and a certificate from The Technical and Professional Writing Program from S.F. State and so can also offer writing and editing services.

Technical Cheat Sheet

HTML/CSS are used for the structure and style of a web page, though CSS is also used for much more.

LESS is a more programmatic way of writing CSS that people like me really appreciate.

Bootstrap is the CSS/JavaScript library most commonly used by developers and designers to create responsive (mobile-friendly) web sites.

JavaScript/jQuery are used for front-end programming ("front-end" means it runs in the user's browser). They're used to add a great deal of functionality and make modern web sites act more like desktop software.

PHP is the most common server-side language on the Web. It runs on the web host's server and is used primarily to manage data in a database: adding, updating, retrieving for display.

MySQL is the most common database on the Web.

WordPress is the most commonly used content management system (CMS) on the Web. A content management system allows the site owner to create new pages, post content and images, manage menus, and much more.
